Why the Black Cobra Award?

Inspite of world wide globalization and integration of ethnic groups, there is no real platform for black people to express their capabilities and culture in Europe. This is not because of racism or social isolation, but merely a consequence of identity. Black people are sensitive and need to be able to express their capabilities and identity and to be appreciated. Due to the historical sufferings of colonialism and slavery, black people have developed values that are different from the values of their white brothers.

We wanted to create a platform where black people can valorize their capabilities and culture, life, their values. This platform is named Black European Platform that issues a trophy of value and respect that can be obtained by winning the Black Cobra Award.

The Black Cobra Award is price of recognition of the black population living in Europe in the following fields: Social, Sports, Art, Politics and Business.

Price winners are people that succeeded in the named areas after years of study and work, despite of the many obstacles they encountered. They will be judged by a jury on the basis of predefined criteria. The Black Cobra prize may also be awarded to Black institution & association

 Price winners have to agree upon to participate and to promote in their area the progress of fellow blacks by taking part in development projects

 History

The origin of this award dates back to 2002. In that year, Olivier Medjo Ndille (Dipl.Wirt.Ingenieur) and Emmanuel Bindzi (Physician) organized a launch aperitif at Medjo’s place in Cologne-Germany. During this launch, they created the Black European Platform with the award named Medjo’s & Bindzi Black Award.

A year later, the name of the award was changed to “Black Cobra Award” in honour of all the Blacks who succeeded in their branches.

The Black European Platform operated as an exclusive industry event in those early years. In 2004, they assumed a much higher profile, being broadcasted nationally for the first time by the first German private television RTL.

Now the Black European Platform is travelling to different European Countries & Cities, thus establishing its claim as a fully European event.

The 2009 Event

Medjo’ Events Management & Services Ltd, Event initiator (Olivier Medjo Ndille) and Health Consulting Sprl

( Lydia Ekeme) decided to organize this year the unique event “Black Cobra magic’s days”

The event will take place on November 28. 2009 at the location “.....................................” in the Trône district of Brussels, not far from the Royal Palace and of the headquarters of many Belgian and multinational companies.

This location has 500 comfortable seats. A hundred of them will be reserved to the official representatives of the African countries as well as V.I.P.’s.

The Black European Platform committee will send forms to persons who are to nominate candidates.

From the nominates, candidates will be selected and invited to prepare a personal file to be presented to a Jury, composed of five or six qualified people in all the fields concerned - artistic, social, cultural, intellectual, political, sports)The jury will select 5 candidates in each field after a detailed study of the various presented files.

The jury will travel to the countries of origin of the selected 5 candidates in order to interview each candidate, following which one of them will be finally nominated.

Finally, the nominated candidates in each field will be invited to the event in order to receive the Award Black Cobra. An important part is the presentation of the Black cobra lectures by the laureates. The Black Cobra laureates will receive the Black Cobra Prize Diploma, the Black Cobra Medal and a Black Cobra Prize Amount
